Samuel Banton is Pax’s roommate at Scholastic Parliament. His family are descendants of Jamaican immigrants from a hundred years ago who have never strayed from the capital. Samuel’s father used to work as an engineer in the mines deep below New London, while his mother works as a chemist for the Worshipful Company of Clothmakers. Samuel has been at Scholastic Parliament since the age of five. He sometimes keeps Pax awake at night with his snoring and talking in his sleep. Unlike Pax, he is a stickler for the rules which can causes tension between the two roomies. Samuel is a brilliant ‘twitcher’ (virtual reality computer games) and an ace drone pilot. He also has a beautiful singing voice, which Pax most certainly does not.
